Spring 2013

We all know what Spring means: a purple crocus popping up out of the ground; making the trek from closet to closet with cozy sweaters stored for future wintry mornings, and online research for summer beach vacations. It’s a chance to enjoy a fresh start after several months of semi-hibernation. Our spring issue is all about getting out of the house and enjoying everything our community has to offer from new restaurants to art to savoring the little pleasures that nature greets us with each day.

In this issue:

We profile artist Dean Loucks-a guy who is not easily defined. Well known worldwide as a painter of boats, Dean is putting his mark on kitchen appliances! Read more about this fascinating Goshen native.

Nancy and Jay Wilkinson’s new home is something to see. Their wooded retreat in St. Joseph County is a warm and cozy example of everything they love – from antiques to sports to entertaining.

Ronda Spaulding loves poetry, gardening and art. She puts it all together in custom-made notecards and décor – all inspired by her home, affectionately called Sparrow Farm, south of South Bend. Enjoy her whimsical oasis.

You don’t have to pass your golf clubs in the garage and look at them longingly. Haul them out. Clean them up. Check out our golf guide and anticipate the best of the best in our area.

So shed your coat and get out there and experience our community. You owe it to yourself!
