The Ride To Wrigley

By+Shelly M. Kurz

If you’ve ever taken a day off to go see the Cubs play at Wrigley Field, you know how much fun it is.

Well fun, that is, after you drive a couple hours in overbearing traffic to get there, then spend another hour driving around looking for a place to park. Then, of course, you have to walk sixteen blocks back to Wrigley once you’ve paid too much for the only parking space you could find. You rush into the stadium, stand in line for that long awaited beer and hot dog, then finally crawl over eighteen pairs of knees just to collapse into your seat by the middle of the first inning. Okay, so maybe the fun doesn’t really start until you get to your seat. But remember, when you’re ready to leave, it’s another sixteen-block walk back to your car that’s probably so jammed in by now that you may have to sit there for another hour before you can even think about making that long drive home. That seems like a lot of hassle for a few short hours of fun.

There is a better way. It’s on a chartered luxury motorcoach from Royal Excursion. Whether you round up fifty or more of your closest friends or join a group that’s already going, you can rest assured the party starts as soon as you hop on that bus. Going with Royal Excursion to see the Cubs play is a whole different ball game. Their professional drivers do all the hard work getting there while you kick back, watch TV, listen to music, enjoy pre-game refreshments of your choice and mingle with friends. Before you know it, you’re being dropped off right there at Wrigley Field. No traffic, no parking, no hassle. And since you’ll typically get there a little early, you’ll have time to enjoy the festivities happening at local bars, clubs and shops around the park. After the game, you don’t have to deal with that long walk back to your car because just a few feet from where you exit the park, your Royal Excursion coach is waiting to bring you back home, safe and sound. Now that sounds like the kind of fun that will linger on long after the bottom of the ninth.

When you travel in a limousine, luxury motorcoach or shuttle bus from Royal Excursion, the journey really is just as much fun as the destination. Whether it’s a group trip to a Chicago Cubs’ game, a shopping mall, sightseeing in New York and Niagara Falls or just a night on the town right here in Michiana. There’s not a more fun, safe and economical way to travel to and from your destination than in the comfort of a classy, quality vehicle operated by a professional Royal Excursion driver.

Royal Excursion’s fleet is equipped with some of the most advanced technology available today. Free Wi-Fi service, power outlets, iPod hookups and large satellite TV monitors are just a few of the amenities. Added features include more legroom, comfortable seating and plenty of accommodations for any refreshments you choose to bring along. “Before you know it, you’ve had a two or three hour ride and you didn’t even notice because it’s been so comfortable and so much fun,” claims owner Shannon Kaser.

Shannon started Royal Excursion in July 1998 with one 12-passenger van that, sans the logo magnet stuck to the side, doubled as his personal vehicle. “Everyone thought I was a fool but I knew I had to try it. I wanted to create a little seed and see if I could make it grow,” he said. During that first year, his trips consisted of a small handful of passengers who hired him for casino and hotel shuttle service. “I just thought if I treated people right, they would help me succeed. It just grew from there,” he recalls. Back then Shannon was a one-man operation. He promoted his shuttle services, cleaned and drove the vehicle and answered the phones. My how things change. Today, his fleet consists of 36 vehicles and a staff of nearly 120 full and part-time employees support him. One thing that hasn’t changed, though, is his commitment to provide top-notch customer service through quality, loyalty and honesty.

Over the years, Royal Excursion has transported such celebrities as Bon Jovi, Wayne Newton, Liv Tyler and Hillary Clinton. Big names in sports including Joe Montana, Rocket Ishmael, Joe Paterno and a host of other well-known collegiate coaches and players also make up the guest list. But you don’t have to be a celebrity to ride with Royal Excursion. “We’ve taken or picked up kids on their first or last day of school and we’ve transported everyone from brides and grooms to grandmas,” said Shannon. Giving back to the community that has been so supportive over the years is very important to this company. Royal Excursion provides transportation services for such charities as Catholic Schools, March of Dimes, Center for the Homeless, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Make-A-Wish and Camouflage Kids.

When it comes to travel, Royal Excursion offers several options, depending on your specific needs. Most of the trips are planned by an individual or a group who then contact the company to work out such details as which vehicle will be used based on number of people traveling and destination goals. Royal Excursion also offers charter trips that are already organized. Seats are sold on an individual basis and guests can choose from a variety of locations including Branson, Nashville, Mackinac Island, Chicago and Frankenmuth. Or, if you prefer to stay closer to home, you can hop on one of several daily shuttles and head to Four Winds Casino Resort.

Limousine service is a great idea for bachelor and bachelorette parties, anniversaries, or just getting a group of your friends together for a safe and unique night out on the town. There’s nothing like the feeling when that white Hummer H2 or Cadillac Escalade limo pulls up and drops you off at your favorite downtown club. Let’s face it, everyone dreams of partying like a rock star once in a while and Royal Excursion has what it takes to make that dream come true. “Most of our trips revolve around fun. Our guests are going somewhere to have a good time so whatever we can do to add to that, that’s what we want. We want to be a part of the memories,” claims Shannon.
