Affordable Luxury in Travel

Now is a great time to take advantage of the many travel deals available today. Here are a few tips to adding value to your vacation or making a luxury trip more affordable, brought to you by Travel Leaders, your personal guide to the world.

River Cruises

What a wonderful value! You can explore Europe on the rivers, visiting major cities and small villages.  No daily packing and unpacking, one room for the length of the cruise. All your meals and sightseeing are included and often wine with dinner each night.

Romance, Anniversary and Wedding Packages

These packages always offer special amenities. From Champagne and flowers to upgraded rooms—an experience for that special celebration.

Private Sightseeing

If you know what you want to see and want a guide who will design a program with your preferences in mind, this is the way to go. I have used private guides in cities in Italy, France, Czech Republic, Thailand and Cambodia. It gave me the ability to focus on my personal areas of interest, without sitting on a bus with people taking a more generic tour.

Luxury Cruises

Luxury cruises often have the deepest discounts on their cruises, really good value when you consider the cabin size, the amenities, on board ambience. Often these lines have a no tipping policy, include wine and are designed to pamper you with excellent service.

Travel Consultants

Your best investment in affordable luxury is an experienced travel consultant. There is no better way to make sure you are getting the best value for your travel dollar. Experienced travel consultants are aware of special values at resorts, on cruise lines, negotiated airfares and upgrade possibilities, cruise experiences and you will not get that kind of support, personal knowledge and advocacy on the internet. An experienced consultant continuously updates their education with courses, seminars and personal travel. An experienced consultant will be able to use their personal experience and professional contacts to make sure each travel experience is a special one.

Book Off-Season

Many luxury resorts have reduced rates and additional amenities if you visit travel at non-peak times. Consider taking a garden view room instead of oceanview room, there is usually a considerable difference in rates so use the difference to stay an extra night!

Take Advantage of “Meal Plans”

Many resorts offer a prepaid meal plan which includes breakfast and one other meal. They may seem expensive upfront, but resort food tends to be expensive, usually more expensive than you expect. This way a big part of your vacation expense is included.

Take Advantage of 4th Night Free Promotions

Resorts often have promotions that include a free night for booking a specific number of nights. A wonderful way to stay a little longer at a very special place.

Consider Private Transfers

One of the best feelings upon arrival in any airport is to see a sign with your name on it!  It means someone else is responsible for making sure you arrive at your destination in the most expeditious manner. It takes the frustration out of finding your own transportation, figuring out the taxi queues, bus locations or train times. In many cases no more expensive than a cab.
